for this music monday is has got to be boy george's recent cover of lana del ray's video games. boy george's version is absolutely heavenly. the music video aesthetic echoes punk britain and glam rock that somehow takes me back. get lost, look, and listen...
lately i've been... 1. crushing on... this stella & dot on the mark necklace is delicately gorgeous. i've been wanting a "just because" piece of jewelry, and this cupids arrow is playing on my accessorizing heart strings. 2. listening to... while i'm not a baseball fan, ben gibbard's song about baseballer ichiro suzuki has me amused/confused. 3. writing on... this life stationery for top hat small notebook is perfect to write down ideas. 4. lusting over... these danielle scutt ball drop earrings are like mini disco balls for your ears. 5. splurging on... i've been wanting one of american apparel brightly colored medium clutch/pouch bags for a while now, so i finally picked one up after work today. 6. needing... a new lip color is on my list and mac's chatterbox seems suitable
so the other week the everygirl asked if the ifb team could show their readers their interview outfits. the first look we were asked to put together was for a corporate role and the other one for a more creative position. here are the two looks i assembled from my closet... be sure to check out the full feature here to see more outfit shots of what my fabulous coworkers (chelsea and taylor) came up with!
i want to like hbo's the newsroom. i really want to. while it has the aaron sorkin trademark of mesmerizing sharp comment and snappy dialogue, it kinda feels like what high schooler rory gilmore would imagine a new york newsroom to be like. i'm still gonna watch for it's (albeit fictionalized) media darlings: fellow brit & also brooklyn neighbour emily mortimer and my new girl crush olivia munn. having worked for a large international media organization once upon a time, the sassy newsroom style makes me miss (only a tiny bit) the (questionably) fashionable blend of corporate cool execs and casual drab journalists that are the heart beat of news - think tweed, blazers, pencil skirts, satchels, buzzing blackberries, and on certain occasions - those knock 'em dead heels.
i fell in love with these prints by kristina hultkrantz, especially this brigitte bardot illustration! it encapsulates complete summer style. makes me wish i was on a beach in the south of france - i wish!!
it's music monday and the kick of to the london olympics.. so i'm dipping into the british archives to have a lil style cuddle. one of my style icons has got to be fellow hampstead-ite marianne faithfull. she is pretty much a staple for my hair cut inspiration for the past ummm 10 freakin' years. and don't you just want to style cuddle her sixties/ seventies clothes too?!
i've been a little busy lately with my new job (!) & just trying to figure out a new routine.and sadly i've had to take a little bit of an unexpected break from blogging as i've been getting into the groove of things. but style cuddle is gonna get her groove back. i promise! in the meantime, i'm working on some ideas for my blog that i can't wait to start putting into practice. it's time to get creative!
