shop it to me: dry goods

i am so excited to share with you one of my favorite brooklyn stores: dry goods! just down the road from my apartment in brooklyn, i discovered this small, enchanting store the day i moved into my place in february. i think it stayed in the store almost an hour talking to the lovely store owner carla.  she travels across europe bringing back little treasures to sell in store, but now dry goods is online! they just launched a new e-commerce site this week - in time for some last minute holiday shopping.  here are some of my picks, perfect pressies for him, her or for yourself.
  perfect picks for gifts:
09 well i can't sew for the life of me, but this liberty book of home sewing looks like an awesome book for any one who is nimble with a needle.

it's a wrap! plaid-fection, bb style

it's a wrap! a plaid or tartan scarf is a winter must have. i picked up one last year from forever 21 (after seeing blair from atlantic pacific who posted this fun, preppy look last fall sporting the style) but it's this snap of the fab bb that's pure plaid-fection.  get your winter wardrobe wrapped up this season with this classic style.

style cuddle's tartan scarf picks:
08 merona classic tartan scarf (via target!)
09 colombo tartan scarf (via barneys)

gift guide: the hostess

first in my series of gift guides is the one question i find myself asking: what on earth should i get the hostess (or host)?  anything related to food is a wonderful house gift, but over the holidays when rich foods can be in abundance, here are a few gifting ideas that can see your host beyond the holiday season.
1. a local print of where you are visiting from, i like this rifle paper new york print! support your local artist community and find fun prints at a holiday fair.
2. this ikat teapot is just lovely and add a few boxes of yummy teas, like this tea forte organic pear and ginger
4. say thanks with these fun bottles of wine.
5. mast brothers chocolate
6. and 7 you can never go wrong with some yummy cheese, but accompany your foodie-related gidt with some nice jam to serve (that the host can always save for later) and bring it on a fun cheese plate.
8. continuing with the cheese board theme, i love this "made with love" cheese board.
9. a gorgeous orchid

fun idea: we recently had a house guest who left us a jar of honey with a note saying "you're so sweet." i thought that was just a darling touch and is an idea i plan to borrow!

...

what a month november's been! i'm sorry for neglecting my blog over the past few weeks and i hope you'll forgive me! i've been freelancing and working on 2 projects at once. which means i've been pulling all types of crazy hours and working super long hour days. one project wrapped up yesterday and i'm slowly getting back into the swing of things and starting to think about holiday shopping (so be prepared for some festive themed posts). so watch this space!  xoxo, melissa
