gift guide: the hostess

first in my series of gift guides is the one question i find myself asking: what on earth should i get the hostess (or host)?  anything related to food is a wonderful house gift, but over the holidays when rich foods can be in abundance, here are a few gifting ideas that can see your host beyond the holiday season.
1. a local print of where you are visiting from, i like this rifle paper new york print! support your local artist community and find fun prints at a holiday fair.
2. this ikat teapot is just lovely and add a few boxes of yummy teas, like this tea forte organic pear and ginger
4. say thanks with these fun bottles of wine.
5. mast brothers chocolate
6. and 7 you can never go wrong with some yummy cheese, but accompany your foodie-related gidt with some nice jam to serve (that the host can always save for later) and bring it on a fun cheese plate.
8. continuing with the cheese board theme, i love this "made with love" cheese board.
9. a gorgeous orchid

fun idea: we recently had a house guest who left us a jar of honey with a note saying "you're so sweet." i thought that was just a darling touch and is an idea i plan to borrow!
